I've been working on a side project where I do a collage of objects within numbers, so maybe something similar can be done with 42 different "bad" objects placed into the number 42 as some sort of art piece.

Now I really like that idea, Cybermystery. We could all help to pick out forty-two things to be considered "bad" - which gives us lots of space to include things which are genuinely bad, things which are silly and recognisable, and things which are silly and more obscure - and then present it in some kind of framing text. Link that into the meaning of life thing - well, strictly speaking, it's the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything, which isn't quite the same thing but can be portrayed that way - make some jokes about the meaning of texts, hidden secrets, enormous questions, incomprehensible answers, etc.

Maybe these words can form the number 42?

I agree with Sherry-Ann, I don't think there is a possible way that we could have all Submissions ready be February. Leaving it till next year seems like a safe idea. I really like the Idea of 42 unfortunate things- would it be things like "heartbreak" and "lumpy porridge"? Kind of like how at the back of each book, they list the horrible things happening, and the last thing is always something harmless?

Maybe we can write something like:
"42 is the meaning of life. And guess what, it doesn't mean any good". And then list the 42 words.

I wish I had my ASoUE/HttG crossover done and ready...Maybe if I work hard I can have it up by Feb. 28th.

How about 42 short stories\drawings showing just how terrible each word is? It would be a big project, but I think we could pull it off.

If we go the short story route, we could ensure that they were just bite-sized enough by having them be forty-two words each.

Good idea... I hadn't thought of that.

I wish I had my ASoUE/HttG crossover done and ready...Maybe if I work hard I can have it up by Feb. 28th. It sounds interesting. And the 42 short stories of 42 words each is certainly a good idea! I'm open to contribution.

I'm into the 42 42-word stories about the meaning of life(, the universe, and everything) idea!
Agreed that I don't think we have time to prepare the collaborative story, but that it's an awesome idea we should try out well ahead of time some year in the future.
edit: perhaps also accompanied by 42 images/illustrations

I think that'd be a good idea, yes; have a big collage of, to the extent possible, forty-two images representing the subjects of the stories, followed by the stories.

And of course they would all be rather black-humor.

And of course they would all be rather black-humor. Yes. Yes, of course, black humour is the key. And I really love the 42-image idea.
