TUA notes (First three chapters)
Chapter One-
"Charley Patton"- A third Charles (Along with Chas Snicket, and Sir's Charles).
The "Pretty Deadly Lake"- Stupid thought, but what if this are is where ZiTS was filmed (as in the location of the survivor). This area is supposedly very close to ValorousFD.
Lemony often has to deliver secret information in a letter beginning "Dear Dairy"- Does this mean that the Dairy is some sort of information receptacle for collecting intel or whatever
Lemony knows the date of his recruitment- Does this mean anything significant... I thought not.
Mrs. Snicket wishes she'd postponed her investigation of the Mill- What's she investigating? The Daily Punctilio stacks? The poor living/ working conditions? The lumber itself?
They rarely took him back- This is probably as good explanation as any as we'll get as to why Lemony's real parents were not with him at the Hemlock in ?1
The text in quotes- Why on Earth is this in quotes?
Chapter Two-
"Despite rumours of your activites"- What activities might these be? Is he working as some sort of very undercover VFD agent...
"Question you wrote on that gum wrapper"- Lucky Smells anyone?
The fireproof drapes awaiting the beginning of the trial- By the trial I assume it means the Hotel D one. If not, then it is some other trial of which we are never informed. Two things of interest: In regards of when the letter is sent, it must be at a period where R knows about the trial, and assumes that the knowledge is common enough for Lemony to know about it too. Secondly, if this is the Hotel D trial, then one of the people at Hotel D that day must have been R, and if she was not there, then what reason did she have not to turn up to give her evidence. Perhaps she is dead by this point, perhaps she was too busy being the swimming woman, or perhaps some other reason
Chapter Three-
The Building Committee of *Scribble*- Of what? One would imagine VFD, but if that was the answer, why would it be scribbled out? What else could even fit in the gap? Or fit contextually?
My thoughts on the names- J- Josephine (early twenties ish at the time. I imagine her as slightly older than Lemony and co.), L- Lemony, M- (An older member), R- The Duchess, R- (And older member), M- Matilda Wormwood???, L- Laura Ingalls???, K- Kit, D- Daniel Handler, S- S. Theodora Markson, J- Jacques.
The Code of VFD- Which one? Or is it an overall code that we've never heard of before
The lobby of the building two doors down from this to see the film Dr. Sebald made- From this I assume we are in Dark Avenue. I also assume that this is the same cinema Monty and the Bauds went to. Also, this means that Gustav could not be in this meeting (under the name of Sebald as S or whatever). Also, since he has a doctorate, this means that the venerable Dr. Sebald must in fact not be the child we see later on, or at least if so, that was him at a time before this meeting, and thus likely before Monty and the Bauds go to see ZiTS (Therefore, if the child is Dr. Sebald the director, then ZiTS was filmed before the code was inserted into the script, and perhaps it was dubbed as many have suggested).
People who are said to be neophytes- R (Duchess), L (Lemony), K (Kit), B (Beatrice) , J (Jacques), E (Esme?), G (Gregor?)
R- “We assign them to strangers and scatter them across the globe, performing errands that are complexing to them- ATWQ anyone?
O and E- Olaf and Esme as children?
