also this is totally unrelated but one time that guy and his daughter saw me and a couple friends walking down the street and they picked us up and a policeman stopped him because he totally thought there was ~soliciting~ happening. he jumped out of the car like hi officer! and the guy had to tell him over the speaker thing to step back in the vehicle and he kind of sounded stoned when he was talking to the officer because thats just how he is and we were in the back and couldn't stop laughing and no one went to jail and it was a miracle.

I kind of always wanted to be "mixed race" (hmm actually more mixed culture I think, especially bilingual as a child. Also saying race when talking about humans is like forbidden here, so I don't really want to say it without the "s) but I'm not, I'm boring. that's odd, but i know in the past your country has had problems with the word race, expecially when used with the prefix 'master-' (sorry ) Well I guess these past problems are the reason why the word is not said anymore.

I'd all recommend you do the Ancestry DNA project at some point in your life, you'll find out all kinds of things about yourself. As for myself the usual for my area: Scot/Irish and Cherokee on both sides

im lucky that i havent had too many weird experiences because of that. theres people who are probably confused especially when im with my extended family but like i can only think of a couple strangers who have ever said anything. then again there is no way i even would have noticed when i was a kid because i operate at a pretty high level of obliviousness now and it would have been worse then. fun story when it came time to put info down on the first census that i was alive for i was in maybe like 3rd or 4th grade and there was no way to indicate i was biracial. i normally just filled in one or the other on standardized tests at this time because when i raised my hand in third grade and asked about it everyone was like um put white duh and i was like that doesnt solve my problem, whatever, but anyway. it was my parents who were filling out the census and they completed the whole thing with time to spare except for the part with my race. dad wanted to say white, mom wanted to say hispanic and they couldnt decide and they ended up being late filling it in. so then theres like a person that comes and helps you if you didnt hand it in and that guy was my best friends dad and he was just like hey guys!!!! lets do this!!! my mom was like we had a problem let me go get our census and he was no i can help, i have one right here, it'll just take a second!!! but she was like no here it is we just need her race and he was like um. so we didn't fill out a new one and it didnt take a second and he couldnt help but my dad wasn't home at the time so they just filled in mexican and were like sucks for you dave. Do they really ask for race in the thing? I mean did they call it race?

Okay. Here we had a census thing 2 years ago and we didn't have to say anything about that, except if our parents and/or our grandparents were born in Germany.

We have something of the sort in our census too and until a while ago, people could pick whatever colour name they wanted. Like "I describe myself as honey" or something of the sort and the census person would have to accept it and write down "honey". Which led to some interesting results. Now you have a limited number of choices but you still can pick whichever, doesn't matter what skin colour you really are. If a white guy decides that he's black and insists on it, then damn, he's black.

I'm Indian/white. Grandmother is Indian, other grandparents are "white". I also get the thing where people deny your ethnicity or whatever. I sometimes wish I looked more Indian, cause the way I look I feel I can't be "proud" of my Indian heritage or whatever. Y'know. Yeah. Also, it's terrible to hear about the abuse your sister receives Bee . I hope that everyone who's ever said something hurtful has something terrible happen to them. It was really gratifying the other night in an Indian restaurant where the waitress recognised my father and I as Indians. Made me feel all giggly and happy . (Totally not related, but I was watching a thing on TV today about an old racist lady who went to an asylum seeker detention centre (read: prison for immigrants) and then met some asylum seekers, and realised that they actually weren't terrible soul sucking monsters, like the Australian/Murdoch media would have you believe. And then she was like really supportive, and is like best friends with an asylum seeker now)

I'm Chinese-Javanese. You can't really guess anyway because I don't look Javanese at all.
