www.lemonysnicketcasting.com/Casting call for Violet and Klaus announced! Their age requirements are quite flexible: 11-14 for Violet, 10-13 for Klaus. I also requested their audition scenes, just to see what they were, and interestingly it's exactly the same scene (the scene in which Klaus confronts Count Olaf with the copy of Nuptial Law) but for Violet's audition they've just given her Klaus's lines. I'm assuming it's because they use a lot of complicated language from Nuptial Law and maybe they want to gauge the potential actors and actresses' abilities at coping with it. Also, there's a brief mention of the sugar bowl! Hopefully an indication they're planning to see the series through to The End ... But then the film made allusions to V.F.D. which were never explained onscreen so I guess it's better not to get one's hopes up. Also, some lines were blacked out, interestingly. You can still read little bits of them and I could understand what lines they were because I recognised them from the book (for instance, one was Count Olaf saying that it was true Violet was very pretty but that a man like him could acquire any number of beautiful women), but it's interesting that they're crossed out at all.

Also interesting to note that the drawing at the top of the page, which features the Baudelaires, shows Sunny as looking much older than a baby. Potentially they want to cast a toddler instead? Unless the picture is meant to be from later in the series, as she grows up ... They don't seem to have said anything about her casting so we will just have to wait and see, I guess ...

Hopefully ... I think it probably was drawn for this, but I'm hoping that whoever drew it just didn't do a very good job with their ages/was trying to make it all a bit nebulous because no one's been cast yet. I really hope Sunny is kept as a baby ... otherwise so much will be changed. I think, upon reflection, it was probably just a bad drawing; the fact that no casting call has been made for Sunny is encouraging because they'll probably be scouting out babies in a different way/also using some CGI like they did in the film.

Any chance of posting the script excerpts, violetbunfortunate? While there's every chance that they aren't finalised - my understanding of casting scripts is that quite often they'll use something thrown together for the occasion that's meant to test general skills and expression rather than being a literal script excerpt - then it might still indicate some of the broader ideas they have for the project, e.g. for the sugar bowl, which I'd like to hear more about. Regarding the lettering and image, here's what I said in a separate thread: A little concerning, but not necessarily representative, when they're attempting to communicate to potential actors rather than advertising to the general public. Nonetheless, I am intrigued by the suggestion that the Baudelaires are now also investigating their parents' death rather than that simply being cut-and-dried; I would regard that as a positive new addition. Edit: Since this discussion is taking place in three different threads at the moment, I thought it was perhaps a big enough deal to merit its own thread: asoue.proboards.com/thread/34189/casting-violet-klaus-netflixs-asoue

Oh goodness -- sorry, Dante, I never saw your request for the script excerpts for some reason, but I see someone else kindly posted them on another thread.

I looked it up myself; it's a simple Google search. It's on the bottom of page 4 of this PDF. "Olaf Productions Inc.," indeed, but the address given is in Vancouver. The same information I subsequently dug up on this page, which gives slightly different dates (March 14 to August 7). ...Searching even further, I found this document which says that we're looking at one-hour episodes.

It appears Rose Lam is the executive producer, then. (We learned a few days ago that that Mark Hudis is no longer involved.)
Personally I'm not knowledgable about either of them, nor their projects as listed on IMDb.
