Oh wow, so they have the same exec co-producer as in the ASoUE movie (Sonnenfeld). That's not that bad. This time he's also directing. Maybe that will make it better. After all, Sonnenfeld also directed The Addams Family and was the Coen brothers' first main cinematographer. I'm glad there's news of it moving along and that Daniel Handler is confirmed as exec producer as well.

Yeah, pretty much. I should probably revisit the Addams Family movies too, I haven't seen them in years.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and I also just remebered he did Men in Black as well.

Seems like a good choice. And now production will really start kicking off. We'll probably get cast announcements before too much longer.

I swear I saw a thread for the 'director confirmed' this morning when I just woke up and now I can't find it. Then again maybe just my sleep-addled brain.

Good to hear they finally have some big names in the production. I don't know what the publicity process for Netflix shows is like, and was starting to wonder if I should be preparing for the show to be in development hell.

Nah, too early for that. After a year and a half or so you could maybe say that, but with this news coming in, I'd say it's going at a usual pace.

I did that thread because I checked on my phone and didn't see one, but they were actually talking about it in another thread haha Also, I'm not sure how good is to have MIB director in this. I'm scared now. Maybe they were right with the "no news is good news" thing after all

Just repeat the mantra, "They can't fire Handler this time. They can't fire Handler this time..."
(They totally can, but there's always hope as long as it hasn't happened yet.)

Ooh Sonnenfeld was also the executive producer of Pushing Daisies, which was always compared to ASOUE. Looking at his past projects, I think he'll offer an interesting and lively perspective on the stories.

I guess I'll trust people who were involved in Pushing Daisies, at least stylistically.

Does anyone know how long there was between announce and release periods for other Netflix original shows, like House of Cards?

I swear I saw a thread for the 'director confirmed' this morning when I just woke up and now I can't find it. Then again maybe just my sleep-addled brain. That's because it was deleted. Barry Sonnenfeld directed Wild Wild West as well, it was one of my favourite films when I was a kid. Not too sure if it still holds up, but as long as he doesn't put Count Olaf in a steampunk wheelchair, I'm happy.

I actually just gave the pilot of Pushing Daisies a watch, since it was also directed by Sonnenfeld. Very good directing and yes, quite reminiscent of ASoUE. I don't think I'm going to continue watching the series for now, but I did enjoy it quite a bit. If anybody can't wait for the ASoUE Netflix series, maybe that show can hold you above water for the time being.
