Very Funny Decision

Very true, very true. But isn't Daniel Handler going to be there? I hope so, that would make it 1,000 times better. He's one of the executive producers and appears to be writing the series, so one hopes that all casting decisions are coming by him as well. Does anyone remember who Handler said his ideal Olaf was? There's a quotation floating around somewhere I'm not sure how I'd dig it up or who he picked, but I do remember that the person in question had been dead for many years.

Handler wanted James Mason (who played Humbert Humbert in the Kubrick adaptation of Lolita).

We haven't seen him in a role like this though, if he's a good actor (which I consider him to be), he will be able to play the role very well!

I haven't read the other posts yet. I just want to say that I'm optimistic for this. NPH played a sympathetic villain in How I Met Your Mother, he could bring a lot of that depth that we found in Olaf (as his backstory was fleshed out in the latter books). The only person I really wanted for the roll was Peter Capaldi, but that was never going to happen.

Deadline is reporting that the deal is now formally sealed; NPH will definitely play Olaf. It's not really new news, but it's something, at least.

Unfortunately, 'augers' is a word. An auger is a boring implement. Er, an implement for boring.
