I can't believe this. We're going to the nameless novel to figure out the title of book 12 and it only gets revealed on day of release! Book The Twelfth to be secret until day of release It has been announced that on Tuesday October 18th, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events Book the Twelfth will be released at the same time in both the US and the UK, becoming available in bookstores in Britain at 3:00 in the afternoon, and 10:00 in the morning in New York. In addition, in America, on The Today Show on NBC between 6:00 and 10:00 that morning, Daniel Handler, Lemony Snicket’s Official Representative, will be unveiling the title of the new book and it's cover for the very first time. (info thanks to Unfortunate Events) Published August 29, 2005 Lemony Snicket is amazingly unpopular here in Ireland so such rules probably won't be followed. I'll probably get it a couple of days early.

Whoa, I completely forgot about this thread. Sorry, folks...
Anyway, evidently my English teacher wasn't getting her definition out of the book I thought she was. Perhaps she was wrong; I don't know. One book I have defined denouement as the "unraveling of the plot," and I guess that definition makes sense. I take that to mean, not necessarily the final resolution, but all the little sub-plot resolutions and such that occur before right up to and including the resolution.
Edit: so basically, the falling action and the resolution.

Hey, SetnicK, where ya been?
OK, I can accept that definition.
*whew!* I'm glad we got that straightened out!

I agree, DD, and thanks for that definition, Setnick. That makes a lot of sense to me now!

No, we are not getting it on Namelessnovel.com which sux majorly after all the work we did, pulling our weight and solving all those clues. (With Dante's help, occasionally. Thanx, Dante. )

I went to a bookstore and asked for the name of the Nameless Novel, the author had told them to say that 'the name of the book was too terrible to reveal'! It was hilarious, yet frustrating.

I wouldn't call the site a waste of time. It's been fun solving the tasks, assembling the pages, and trying to figure out how everything fits together.

I don't think it's a waste either. It's been a nice diversion and source of speculation while we wait for the book to come out. They've said that this will be some sort of contest, and Harper-Childrens lists it on their Contests page. I still think there will be some sort of contest with real, tangible prizes. (We'll see if I'm right.) That would certainly make it even more worthwhile in my mind.

The Today Show doesn't come on here till 7 and I leave the house before then of course. *Facepalm* That really makes me angry, namelessnovel was just a stupid gimick to ply us with insignificant information so we wouldn't be too angry about the lack of title, and then they smack us with "Yeah the whole point of the site is now nonexistent have fun."
I had a suspicion they'd do something like this...

Remember the craze before the last book? Grim Grotto! Grim Graveyard! Grim Grotto! AUGH!!!
But that ad on HarperChildren's website seems to say pretty expicitly that the investigation would lead to the title. But then there would be no need to reveal it on the Today Show. Everything is so [edited for your safety] contradictory!!!

Maybe the final task reward on TheNamelessNovel.com will simply say to watch the Today Show.

But we already know about that, so it would be pretty useless.

Releasing it on TheNamelessNovel.com wouldn't, in my mind, be equivalent to officially releasing the title. Especially since we're putting it together in pieces. Handler's appearance on the Today show would be more of an official "Ta-da!" business. And besides, not everyone in the world who likes Snicket will know about TheNamelessNovel.com. And this'll be more of an official release-day author appearance, too.
That said, we don't actually know what will happen in Task III. We just have to wait a few more days, I guess.
