It's a children's seires, and if Handler killed off one of the Baudelaire children, the entire world would HATE him and noone would buy any more of his books. I don't even think one of the Quagmires will die. But I do think the seires will end with a good and bad.
Good: -Count Olaf will be sent to jail. -The Baudelaires and the Quagmires will live in happiness with Justice Strauss. -The world will realize that the Baudelaires are innocent.
Bad: -Count Olaf will escape but will fail to steal the Baudelaire or the Quagmire fortune. -Lemony Snicket will still be a fugitive. -Beatrice will die in Book 13.

My friend had an... errrrrrr......... interesting idea. What if Lemony pulled a 6 sence and the Baulds. were like dead already or something already. Just an idea but in the mind of DH/ LS who knows? ;D ( I'm not so sure about my friends logic!)

I always figured best-case scenario legal technicalities would be smoothed out, Olaf would stop being a threat, and Lemony would adopt the children. He's dedicated this much of his life to them, it seems possible. It also could be Beatrice is their mother, she never died, and is eventually going to marry Lemony Snicket. (Not that I think that's going to happen but it doesn't sound too outrageous to me.)
It would bookend the first and the last books very nicely if Justice Strauss became their guardian, and she does seem to get mentioned here or there in later books (meaning she's big enough to not only exist in book the first.)
Handler isn't going to kill one of the children, and from the evidence we have now I stand very fimrly to this. A common theme threaded through these books is that the children have strength in each other, and no matter how safe they are at the end, if one of them dies the ending is going to be very unsatisfying.

I found this article, with a vague clue to Book 13: home.hamptonroads.com/stories/story.cfm?story=79327&ran=202096His next book, the 12th in the 13-book series, will be out in the fall. The 13th book, he says, will have a twist.
“Some people have already figured it out. I’ll give you a clue. It involves Beatrice. In fact, that clue is in the books everywhere. It’s all right if everyone figures it out. I didn’t write these books in order to be subtle.’’
I also think it's possible that Lemony will adopt the children, and/or initiate them into VFD.

Hello, I'm new here and hope we can become buddies. On to my opinion:
Well, LS/Handler is writing these stories in the future of the ASoUE world, so Beatrice may still be alive then, I think. O.o And does something heroic that ends up saving the Baudelaires and Snickets and some choice people, but maybe Esme gets burned up...-shrugs-
Or maybe she's already dead, but the children discover something that she did(that sugar bowl of Esme's??) that explains all that moral dilemma and not everything is black-and-white and things like that.
But I know that Violet and Klaus will live after Book 13, it's been hinted in a couple books...but I think Sunny will be gone. She's been through two horrors already.
Olaf: -grins creepily- Third times the charm.
O.o;

I think that Count Olaf will finally chase them into Curdled Cave and when they get to the end of the cave, they remember how Aunt Josephine had died by hiding here because of him(sort of,but she never would have had to hide and eat a banana and die 'cause ofhim yeah ). They find a gun and decide it's time they stopped running from their problem. They have the chance to kill Count Olaf, but at last minute they decide to let him go . Beatrice is their mother, she survived, but is killed off by Olaf. Then they plan to avenge her, but he is long gone.

Meh,probably will end in total mystery and suspense and we won't have any idea about alot of stuff about V.F.D.Although there might be some happy stuff to it.Like maybe Olaf gets sliced and diced or something.

Maybe the series will never end. I doubt Handler would do that though. He probably will leave some questions unanswered and have a pleasent but not toatally happy ending. Olaf will probably be put to rest or at least put in jail like in AlKatraz (however one spells that). I just hope that however he ends the series all the Baudelaires live at the ending.

because of what olaf said in book the third this is probably not right, but it could've been lemony that burnt down the baudelair mansion.

I don't think so. Lemony seems to be leaning very much on the "don't turn evil in the process of fighting evil" side of the schism. It'd be a great plot twist though.

In the end everybody will meet up with each other. Beatrice will die and Count Olaf will be captured.
Lemony Snicket will be at the end. What ever happens at the end he will be there.
