Violet, to me, looks like she has a trance or hypnotized look on her face. Hmm. Interesting theory. Maybe the hypnosis will come into play again?

The Amazon sites now have their own picture of TCW, from a different angle. It's not very big, but it looks to me like the TPP picture for Olaf (bottom-left) is slightly different; Olaf seems to be leaning forward and has something under his arm. I think that the B&N TCW was all a mock-up of the box, whereas this was a finished version (it's put together slightly differently, too). I only mention it because of that different-looking picture, and because it also made me realise it was definitely the picture for TPP, because the brown-ish object on the pillar isn't, as I originally thought, an out-of-place diving helmet, but is in fact Mrs. Bass's money bags (I don't think that has any plot significance, as other pictures seem to have extra items from that book, for example the Stephano picture having his suitcase and the Incredibly Deadly Viper, and the TMM picture has the Paltryville street).

Thanks, Dante. I should note that this image is the one that Harper-Collins has on their site. I would assume it is the actual box, and it won't look like the B&N box.

Ah, thanks. They must only have been added recently, as I didn't see them the last few times I checked this morning. Oh, HarperChildrens has a big version of the picture! Now I see why Olaf's head looks weird - he's blindfolded. And he's holding the harpoon gun. I can't tell what's on the plinth to his right, though, or what's up with his right knee, although it might be rope attached to the harpoon. www.harpercollinschildrens.com/harperchildrens/harperchildrensimages/isbn/large/4/9780061119064.jpg

Oh my. That box is absolutely amazing. Why don't they sell these things seperately? Maybe I'll come across one on eBay in twenty years time.

Incidentally, I just found an article about The Complete Wreck. HC Bets Snicket Boxed Set Isn't a Complete WreckWith a planned first printing of 300,000 for the complete boxed set of Lemony Snicket's Unfortunate Events books, HarperCollins is betting there's still a substantial market for a series that already has more than 26 million copies in print. But whom does HC see as the audience for the 13-volume The Complete Wreck ? Series editor Susan Rich admits that she wouldn't recommend paying $150 for the boxed set if readers are only looking for one title, but she believes the combination of people who haven't read the books and Snicket fans is large enough to justify the healthy first printing.
The attraction for Snicket fans includes new "narrative art" on the box by illustrator Brett Helquist. The art will appear on the five sides of the box and will give readers, Rich said, "a better understanding of the series." Having the complete set will also make it easier for fans who want to re-read certain books to refresh their memory, she said.
HC has previously released four three-volume boxed sets of Snicket and one six-volume boxed set; the publisher was satisfied enough with sales to go ahead with the large run for the complete package.
Lisa Dugan, children's buyer for Koen-Levy Distributors, said she understands HC's inclination to put Snicket into one package. "You have a series that's done, you put it into a boxed set. It's a natural," she said. Similar high-priced sets for Narnia and Potter have done fairly well for Dugan, and she has placed a modest order for the Snicket set. Both Dugan and Rich agreed that if Complete Wreck will be successful, it will be at the holidays. "This is a gift item," Rich said.

Now that I think of it, I have an expensive Narnia one with original art, it's VERY cool, and I already had the books individually.... I think this might be worth a buy, If I can just convince my parents to sell my books on eBay.....

I dont know if anyone has noticed this, but on the back cover it has one item from each book.
1. TBB - Eye Painting 2. TRR - Incredibly Deadly Viper 3. TWW - (I think) The Rope Hanging in the Tree it looks like a boat rope or something. 4. TMM - Leggings 5. TAA - Violin 6. TEE - Shopping Bag 7. TVV - Daily Punctillo 8. THH - VFD Baloon 9. TCC - Crystal Ball 10. TSS - Snow Scouts Mask 11. TGG - Diving Helmet 12. TPP - Frog Lamp
That Leaves 2 items unaccounted for. The Jug type thing next to Sunny and in the item in the bottom left corner. Im not sure what it is. It is Red with a white marking on it. To me it looks like T-Bone Steak.. ? Could these items have something to do with The End?

If you look really carefully at the jug, you can see some birds (crows?). It's probably the jug from TVV: the one Violet used to break her and her siblings out of the cell.

Sunny's pitcher, and the bench Klaus is sitting on, are from the illustration for Chapter Ten of TVV. I can't tell what the item in the bottom-left is, but I doubt it's anything important, particularly given its bland appearance.

Sorry if this has been proposed before, but I think that Violet is accepting forbidden fruit from the sugar bowl, and it may kill her. After all, surely they would choose an image which induces a great deal of impact on the observor for the back cover of such a beautiful boxed set? If you think about it, it could well be the turning point of the series.

From Barnes & Noble: (Their copy of The End is still apparently a mocked-up TPP.) (B&N can't count?)
