It says "interactive" so I am not sure what they are referring to here. Is it a bundle of papers? Is there an interactive element (CD-ROM)? I rather like 'The Gloom Looms' myself. The Loathsome Library sounds interesting, but I'm slightly annoyed by the Library edition of TBB. How different can it be to the Rare Edition?

OLD STUFF -Well, this has been known for a long time, but it's coming out in around three weeks (still no cover image!) so I thought I should mention it. "Lemony Snicket: Inventors and Creators" by Hayley Mitchell Haughen comes out on March 12. Amazon lists it under the genre of "Biography". . .interesting. . . Why is that interesting? A lot of publishers, especially those that publish books for school libraries, have sets of books that follow a theme. This is obviously a biography of Lemony Snicket (most likely Daniel Handler). $65 was the list price. Amazon is selling it for $40.95. I am guessing that it will be the first 6 (or 7) books. Once all 13 are out, they will have a second Loathesome Library. Didn't they already do the Rare Edition with extra notes? How many versions do they need? How much money can they squeeze out of their readers? That will come down, you watch. Barnes & Noble lists it for $11.99.

My problem with "The Gloom Looms" is that it doesn't really emphasise the danger that the Baudelaires were in. It simply implies unhappiness, whereas "The Situation Worsens" and "The Dilemma Deepens" all give a feeling of desperation, of that danger which I mentioned.
The Private Library Edition of TBB can't be another RE. What is there to add?
I remember seeing "A Library of Unfortunate Events" on Amazon.com, which was the current eleven books plastic-wrapped together. I can't see what this "Loathsome Library" can have which will be any different, really. Either way, I reckon that it will be the first six books, and then Volume 2 will be the next six books, with number 13 left on its own again, as seems to be happening with the boxed sets.
Edit: Also, GG, now seems like a good time to badger your insider for any slim scraps of information that you might be able to obtain.

What might be kinda cool for the Private Library Edition of TBB is notes like written in the margins of each page. The thing is, when it was first written, I don't think he had all the VFD and schism stuff all worked out. So then, he might have to make up some background for it.

I think that the BBRE sorted that out pretty nicely... Although since Amazon.com lists them as having the same page counts, that could be regarded as evidence backing up your theory. Or it could just have a different cover, or be completely rewritten, or some other gimmick highly desirable feature.

Edit: Also, GG, now seems like a good time to badger your insider for any slim scraps of information that you might be able to obtain. Yeh, I was just thinking of that too. Harper-Collins still doesn't list it on their page, but she's confirmed the release date for us. I'll e-mail her tomorrow looking for information.

I like all the "s" sounds.

How about "The Crisis Increases"? I like all the "s" sounds. It sounds too similar to the current section title for my tastes... And it just sounds wrong. Can a crisis "increase"? I liked Antenora's suggestion of "The Tables Turn."

But did the tables turn? Count Olaf still seems to be winning.
It's kind of cliche, but what about "The Plot Thickens"? It doesn't have to have double initials.

But did the tables turn? Count Olaf still seems to be winning. The Baudelaires were doing darn well in TSS... And there was all that stuff in TGG about the tables turning. Edit: And yes, double initials doesn't seem to be a problem with the boxed sets. Edit Again: Board name has been changed (thank you Tragedy) to reflect the name of the box set. The thirteenth book problem will be dealt with after Book the Twelfth has been released.
