Lemony didn't marry Beatrice--at least, the evidence points more toward him not having done so. In his theatrical review he said he was engaged to marry her, and in (I think) THH he said that she'd married someone else. While I'm not sure you can entirely rule out a divorce or some such, it seems more likely that they were never married. As for the orphaned niece, it could well be some child of Jacques' we've never heard of.

I was out of town yesterday and don't know if I missed some big "announcement" by Lemony Snicket, but I got this Author-Tracker mail just now:
Before you all pounce on me, I realize all of this is a joke. I just want to know if there was some "announcement" yesterday or not.

That's really lame. They can do better than that for an April Fool's joke.

If you want to trick people, the information should at least be believable. Count Olaf giving them ponies? Come on.
(You should check out Google's joke today.)

Hee. I liked the April Fool's joke. It started out with /somewhat/ believable information, then gets progressively ridiculous.

I believed it was a semi-truth until it came to "Beatrice is the hook handed man"

The AuthorTracker made me smile, especially "Yes, Beatrice is actually the hook-handed man."
Interesting and random things are to befall the Baudelaires in the End.

It may have been unbelievable but it was still funny. The Beatrice Letters, a collection of personal letters which will be published in September, is full of funny poems and doodles of unicorns Obviously this is folly but it could be suggesting the letters will contain some sort of poems and perhaps some morbid doodles.

I don't believe there was one, they were just making a false allusion to it in order to make it sound truthful. It was funny though.

Ernest D, I suppose I'll add [/sarcasm] to your obviously truthful and truthfully obvious statement.
