Thanks, Dante. That was really helpful.

There seem to be some romantic relationships among the dotted lines like Violet/Quigley, Klaus/Fiona, and Olaf/esme. Solid lines seem to do more with jobs, Monty and Bruce, Widdershins and Phil, woman with no beard and Ernest... This is rather difficult..

I would like to quickly state that this chart makes it obvious that olaf is NOT siblings with the sinister duo, look at the lines. they are associates, but not related by blood.
EDIT: wait. if our theory that the straight black lines mean blood relations, why aren't fiona and ferald connected?
EDIT 2: Why are mr. remora and isadora connected, but not duncan and ms. bass?
EDIT 3: The absence of the Snickets, Beatrice, and the Baudelaire Parents is intriguing. It probably would have given away too much.

Yeah, you're right they're not connected. I never actually took the chart literally in the first place. What with all the different lines, as soon as we decipher a key, along comes something which doesn't support our ideas. So either there is a lot of mistakes in the chart and so it wasn't made to be taken literally, but rather a confusing piece of material for display ( which I believe) or there is a lot of things we don't know.

About the chart I was going to suggest that they represent the recentness of the connection, but that wouldn't work. Maybe the strength of the relationships?

Oh, that's an idea, I suppose.
Edit: Hang on, in the solid line one, is Hector connected to no one?

Hmmm strengh of relationship, no that's not a bad idea. But once again there is a flaw being one would think the Baudelaire siblings would have the strongest relationship yet the same line connecting them is used to connect the Denouements and we know Ernest is not on good terms with Frank.

Well, now, do we really know that? We know they're on opposite sides, but does that really mean that they are not on speaking terms? They are brothers, after all.

Well, now, do we really know that? We know they're on opposite sides, but does that really mean that they are not on speaking terms? They are brothers, after all. I'm not big on theorizing or posting in the BBooks section, but I just want to say that two brothers at my school had a fight over lord-knows-what and didn't speak to each other, or anyone else for that matter, for weeks. It was sad and a little creepy. So you don't have to be on speaking terms if you're brothers. And i don't know if I'm the first to say this, but Dewey isn't connected to Kit with an line whatsoever. Or maybe I'm just missing it.

Kit's not on the chart, which explains it. I imagine the chart would be much more interesting with the inclusion of the Snickets and possibly the Baudelaire parents. Perhaps that's precisely the reason they weren't included - it might give too much away. *shrug* We're free to speculate all we want on that, until we can get a mole into HC's web development personnel.

Just a quick note: As of now, I am officially on holiday, to return Saturday 8th. If any more AuthorTrackers come out while I'm away, or more stuff shows up on LemonySnicket.com or elsewhere, please post it here - but watch out for red herrings on April 1st, as I wouldn't put it past them. See you all in a week, and don't wreck BBooks while I'm gone.

#3: Lemony Snicket's niece is an orphan.
You all seem to have forgotten that when you marry someone, their nieces and nephews are now your nieces and nephews.
Lemony married Beatrice. It is widely speculated that Beatrice is the Baudelaires' aunt. If this was true, Lemony's niece (Violet/Sunny) would indeed be an orphan.
