I would have to agree with the Olaf thing, though I think that it would be a good ending either way.

I THINK KLAUSE WILL DIE SINCE HIS THE MIDDLE CHILD AND NO ONE REMEMBERS HIM LIKE THE OTHER TWO WHO ARE MORE IMPORTANT.

*blinks* I don't agree with you at all(then there's always the fact that I barely understood that post). If any child dies it would be either violet or sunny because sunny's exclamation "pietrisycamollaviadelrechiotemexity" is an anagram of violet dies i cry help me i may lie car tot axe, so that implicates violet as a potential victim. And then in trr handler says that years later violet and klaus would remember certain events from that novel so that implicates sunny as a potential victim. Klaus seems least likely to die at this point.

However, we're not sure if that was intended as an anagram, so that might not prove anything.(Although I think I actually came up with that "solution" to it, I admit it probably wasn't intended to be decoded that way.) I still think that if anyone dies, it'll be Violet, because she's the responsible mother figure who might put her life at risk to help her siblings. But as Dante mentioned, the death of a Baudelaire would be far too tragic for a "not particularly happy or particularly sad" ending. And another thing Handler's mentioned, if I recall, is that the series won't end like a Shakespeare tragedy with everyone lying around dead.

I should hope not. I actually got the anagram from the same site we got the handler interview with all the 'read and find out's from. And I don't really think it's worth anything either I'm just pointing out that there have been suggestions, however small, that violet and sunny may die, yet no one has posted such suggestions about Klaus. I don't think any of them are going to die either personally, and I hope none of them do.

You're thinking of the Lemony Snicket FAQ, to which I actually submitted some things once, a few years ago: www.angelfire.com/ga2/LoneWolf/SnickStuff/SunnySpeak.htmlSo, yes, I'm responsible for that particular spurious theory.

While the death of one of the siblings would be difficult to balance out to make the ending neither happy nor sad, the return of one of the parents could do so, and this is a speculated event. If one sibling does die, I agree with many others that it will be either be Violet or Sunny. However, I'm leaning towards Sunny because she is younger and more defenseless than Violet and Klaus and has had more close encounters with death. Also, there was that bit about "surviving this particular encounter" in TRR when Sunny was bitten by the Incredibly Deadly Viper.

It's generally agreed that Beatrice is dead by now, and possibly died around the beginning of the series(if not some time before it), although all of that depends on when Snicket actually wrote the books relative to events in the lives of the Baudelaires. However, that's a topic for another thread; we have one on that matter in Sardonic Series.

Huh?
Anyway, the only thing to to make me cry in TE, is if Violet died. This is old news and somebody probably thought of it, but why is Sunny gasping in the cover of TE? At first I thought maybe O died, but now I'm not so sure...

Sunny doesn't appear to be gasping. In fact, none of the Baudelaires appear to have their mouths open. She's looking off-screen, but given that it's not in the direction she's facing, I think she's just scanning her surroundings.

Actually it would make more sense to have Violet die instead of Sunny because it's usually the old that die and the young that live. Though I'd be sad if either died of course.
