I'd say that Violet is extra-important because she's the closest thing the other siblings have to a responsible adult. If she died, it'd be quite tragic, but she just might sacrifice herself to save the others.

If she died, it'd be quite tragic, but she just might sacrifice herself to save the others. Exactly. She just seems more mature and to have more life experience than Klaus, and certainly Sunny. She would be the one to sacrifice her life for her siblings, if it were to come to that.

Me and the other Violet fans out there are praying that doesn't happen. I don't think anyone will die...... yet. Certainly not one of the Baudelaires, they are all too important. Someone WILL die. It's only a matter of time.

In what book did DH imply that one of the Baudelaires will die? I think that this is a stupid rumor because we have no proof. indeed! is this rumor actually based on fact at all!!! [glow=red,2,300]BUT[/glow] if any of them did die I don't think it will be violet, because she has sworn to protect them and if sunny or klaus dies she will forever be racked with guilt an remorse... does anyone know any other rumors we can speculate about? BTW, can somebody change the title of this thread it should be "Did anyone HEAR this rumour..." as opposed to HERE.

I may start correcting thread titles more often, if more people are bothered by it.
And in the case of most "rumours," then what is actually meant is "a random theory made up by somebody who thought it would be a good idea."

Why does everyone think it will be Violet? Oh wait, I do too.
It would be sad if any of them die, even Violet, who isn't my favorite Baudelaire. But I desperately hope it's not Sunny, because of her young age. I don't want it to be a Quagmire, either, except perhaps Quigley. I'm definitely sure of the main(ish) characters is going to die.

Well...Violet is my favorite, and I don't want her to die. And if one of them did die, I think it would be too cliche for her to die protecting her siblings, it's too predictable for Handler.

I can't imagine any of them dieing. I mean the story is about the three siblings, not one in particular, not one less that the others. To kill of one of these three would be privledging the other two as more important than the other, and the reader will go away from the book thinking this. If death does show its face amongst the Baudelaire siblings it would have to kill all of them together to make sure they are equal as characters...but I truelly doubt that would happen.

Actually, we've had a pattern of sets of three siblings in which one was unheard of, or thought to be dead, or exceptional in some way--the Quagmires and Denouements, for instance. So maybe one of the Baudelaires will vanish, and the matter of their death will be left ambiguous. But that'd be hard to do since all three of them tell the story.

Yes, but the series is not about the Quagmire siblings or the Denouement siblings. So the problem I stated in my last post doesn't apply to those examples because they are not that significant characters....as the Baudelaires.

They can't kill off a main charicter that's been all the way through the series. (With the exception of Mr. Poe, but he was only from books 1-7, then there for brief moments in TGG and TPP.) It'd be too tough, and Daniel has already said that the story wouldn't end in a massive slaughter or compleatly terribly woefully sad.
