One more screen shot. I wonder why they went with that spelling of soul. I've always assumed the lyrics were "In the whole of the soul of Count Olaf there's no love." Meaning, "in his entire soul" When you just hear the song, the homophones are unclear. I suppose people could think it says "In the hole of the sole" like he has a hole in his sock. So why go with sole, the fish?

Just for a pun, would be my guess.
Edit: Now we get the e-mail about it.

The books are both clearly CGI, no doubt about it. Why it is grey, I don't know. But it is not an actual copy of the book.

I didn't get the impression they were CGI. Do you think the cards are (at the end anyway) too? Because the books land on the cards which react appropriately. It all looks natural to me.

Maybe they threw down actual copies of the books, but they didn't react well with the monochrome texture on the video, so they edited the actual covers on. But couldn't do it well with the spine, so didn't try. I think the above picture of TBL looks right for this. But I'm no graphics expert or anything.

I personally think they look CG too.

Maybe as a still photo they look a bit CG, but I think it's just because of the contrast between color and b/w. When the video is moving, they look real, not CG. (IMHO)

So why go with sole, the fish? I always thought it was "in the hole of the soul of Count Olaf, there's no love" - i.e., Olaf has a beastly hole where his soul should be. My understanding was they were using a figure of speech, like saying "in the cave of the mousehole," meaning "the cave-like mousehole." Anywho. Yes, nice videos. I'm glad they're doing something special for Book the Thirteenth.

Sorry, but I'm really not in the mood to search through the topic to find the answer. Do we know what these letters mean yet? Sorry again if this is really old, but it's probably not being that the third vid was released today.

I just thought I'd mention this lil fact I noticed: there are quite a few spelling errors in this video, besides 'whole' and 'sole', and 'despair' rather than 'dispair', the Gothic Archives is spelt wrong, naming them the Gothic Archies, also despair on the card would actually read disspair, so there's 2 errors in that one word. And there may be more but I just can't seem to remember them. Do you think this is another clue or just a rather freaky coincidence?

... the Gothic Archives is spelt wrong, naming them the Gothic Archies... Um, "the Gothic Archies" is the name of the band. Official website. I liked the last video the best of all, especially the card-flipping. It was great.

Dante, please don't ever speculate about my imminent death or some other tragedy. Now I've got goosebumps. As for the gray spine: The video is shot in black and white. The only color is the covers of the two books. I think they did that for emphasis and just made the spine gray as well. It seems like a stretch, but that's my only idea as to why there is a gray spine. Or, this video was shot a while ago and both books are mock-ups. (Maybe they hadn't decided on a spine color yet.) If you look at TBL, it doesn't have the cut-out letters on the cover. The spine looks more black than gray to me/
