I just realised I haven't posted my cereal, that's because the picture is on Isadora Is a Door's phone. Isadora Is a Door eats cereal most days, and when he's "done" with a pack (i.e. he thinks there isn't a whole portion left but I think there probably would be most times), I seal up the bag properly and put it in another old box, so I have small amounts of different cereals whenever I want to just grab a handful of dry cereal or put it some in my yoghurt. So for this occasion I just mixed 4 different types of cereal and added some oat milk. I enjoyed it at the start, but then it went soggy and I remembered that that's why I hardly ever eat a bowl of cereal with a liquid. 8/13, picture may follow if I can be bothered.

I am finally posting all these things! Toast I took this picture before putting strawberry jam on it. It was homemade wholemeal bread, and I had the choice between "not really toasted, just warm and a bit dried out" and "actually toasted but with burnt edges", so I went for the second option. 10/13, I like toast. Popcorn Just plain popcorn, popped with a bit of coconut oil and salt. We often have this when watching a film because it's so easy to make and tastes amazing. 13/13 Coffee and tinned peaches When we were in Germany recently, we went into a shop with lots of random handmade and fairtrade stuff. They also had a coffee roasting machine in the middle of the shop, and we waited for a bit to watch them get the roasted beans out. I liked the smell and the sound of it. I bought a pack of ground coffee to take home, and this is the first cup I made from it, using a French press. I added a bit of oat milk because in my opinion most things are better with oat milk. The taste of the tinned peaches was a little bit weaker than I expected, probably because it's been over 20 years since I last had a tinned peach just on its own and they probably used to put more sugar in the liquid than they are allowed now. It was okay, but now that I'm an adult I prefer to combine them with other food, for example I had one with yoghurt and granola the next day and that was really nice. 12/13 for the coffee and 9/13 for the tinned peaches, 11/13 for the combination. Peppermints I put them in an old jam jar and threw the packaging away and didn't take a picture of it. They are hard on the outside and crumbly in the middle. I actually like peppermints, but they make me a bit anxious because anything you can't eat anything for quite a while after or it will taste weird, and I'm scared of the commitment to not eating anything for a while. What if someone offers me free chocolate? 8/13 I have also bought crackers and eaten a few of them, but not taken a picture of them or tried to whistle.

A lot of exciting things on this list!
I have pictures to post for all the rest of the Reptile Room food which we ate last weekend, I will have to remember to do that when I have both time and WiFi.
Yesterday we went to a place that included an old fashioned sweet shop, so I was hoping we could get some old fashioned peppermints there, but they didn't have any, so we will have to get boring normal ones instead.

You are not obsessed with pie. You might even hate it. And me. I better go before you knock me out.

I noticed if you click the Reply button above the quick reply box it goes a greenish blueish sort of colour which doesn't really fit with the rest.

Last weekend I made a coconut cream cake I used my top secret universal chocolate cake recipe and a German buttercream (butter + pudding), using white chocolate and replacing some ingredients by coconut ones. There is creamed coconut, coconut milk and desiccated coconut in both the cake and the cream, so definitely for people who like coconut. I am one of these people. 14/13 because CAKE On Tuesday I made Mushroom Stroganoff. I used the same recipe Violent BUN Fortuna has linked in this post, and also used extra garlic and cooked the rice myself. The sauce was a bit more liquid than I expected, I would have liked it a bit more creamy, but the flavour was really nice. 12/13

I have eaten several raw carrots while staying with my parents. They have access to better carrots where they live, which are not the size of my forearm and therefore more suitable for eating raw than the ones we get here. However, it is not the best time of year for carrots, so I think I will give an average rating of 7.5/13 I forgot to take a picture but I think most people know what a carrot looks like.
An experimental coconut cream cake is in progress.

What do you mean what are they? They're shoes.
I went into a shoe shop this year, actually looking for boring trainers for walking to work but found these instead. I was a bit hesitant to buy them because I thought the yellow wouldn't go with many things, but then I thought who cares. They were 50% off so they were only 19€.
If I wear them with pinstripes I look like 667.

I had covid in July 2022. It was during a heat wave, I hate being ill in hot weather. I was vaccinated and it was just an average cold/fake flu virus with a sore throat, runny nose and a bit of a fever. I started feeling ill on a Thursday and didn't take the Friday off sick and worked from home, I can't remember why, but I remember thinking I should have just taken it off. I did have a weaker sense of smell and taste for a few days, which was annoying because it made me keep wanting food because even if I had eaten enough for my body my brain wasn't satisfied.

I was away and didn't really look at a computer and now I'm sad I missed the purple. But I think this looks good, I like that the pinstripes got some texture.
Just the like counts give me cringe vibes because they remind me of the old Karma.

Names

Post by Kit's tits kick ticks on Feb 20, 2024 18:36:58 GMT -5
I have always been interested in names. The idea that when a baby is born you give them a name just fascinated me. My parents had a name book (which someone probably gave to them before me and/or my siblings were born), and I found that when I was just able to read. I loved reading the names I didn't know yet, learning about the origins of different names and highlighting the names I liked. I also had some "statistics" (based on all the people I knew or knew about) about which names tend to occur in the same families. Before I realised I was a terrible writer my favourite part of writing was naming characters. Choosing names was also my favourite bit of pretend play or playing with dolls/toys. I always had a favourite name (and several backups) which changed frequently. I didn't really know or care if a name says anything about the person. Some names roughly tell you a person's age/generation, but of course there are exceptions to this, some names are more timeless than others and some disappear and then appear again a few generations later. For example in Germany a woman called Sabine is most likely about my parents' age, someone called Hannah could be any age. Emma used to be a really old great-grandma name, but then got really popular again in the last 10-15 years. Male names tend to be more timeless than female ones. If a name can tell you anything else about a person, it's probably because parents who choose similar names also have similar parenting styles. I had a phase where I didn't like my own name, when I was about 10. I don't think there was a reason for it, maybe I thought it was a bit childish because it's from a children's book. My name is actually mispronounced most of the time, or at least pronounced differently to how my parents pronounce it, I even do it myself now. So maybe it's my parents who have been mispronouncing it the whole time? They pronounce it with a short "ditt" (like in "ditto"), and most people pronounce it with a long "deet". I prefer the short ditt, but when I pronounce it like that I almost swallow the whole i and the d blends into the t and nobody understands what I'm saying. Also it would be awkward if I now told people that it's pronounced like Maditta and not Madeeta when that's what they have been calling me the whole time. Now I'm a bit sad about that The idea of changing one's own name seems weird to me, probably because I grew up in a country where you can't just do that. If/when I have children/a child, I would like to choose names which give them flexibility to choose their own nicknames, I wouldn't give them names which are already shortened. I also like the idea of using old fashioned German names which I probably wouldn't choose if I was still living in a German speaking country. I can think of a few girls' names which I like enough to give to my own child, but I'm really struggling to think of any boys' names. Of course that means that I will probably only ever have sons just for that reason, and never being able to pick a girl's name is genuinely the main (possibly the only) reason I would be disappointed about that.
