I read somewhere that perhaps Hell is a nightmare shaped by a person's guilt over their evil actions(whether or not they conciously realize that guilt). So everyone gets their own personal heaven or hell, or some combination of both, depending on what they did, said, and thought in life. Again, sorry if this is a bit incoherent, I've been rather sleepy all day. Can you dream when you're dead? I thought that required a working brain.

Dreaming can't occur when you're dead. Only when you're mostly dead.

Can you dream when you're dead? I thought that required a working brain. I admit, I can't really distinguish between 'brain' and 'soul'. If you believe in a soul, and that you go somewhere after you die, when you die will you have a sense of self? Will you want things, think things? Or is that merely a 'brain' function?

I admit, I can't really distinguish between 'brain' and 'soul'. If you believe in a soul, and that you go somewhere after you die, when you die will you have a sense of self? Will you want things, think things? Or is that merely a 'brain' function? Difficult to answer. This is the point when I wish I knew more of the Bible by heart, because I bet this is addressed at some point. I think that your soul is the essence of who you are; you're born with a soul but what you do with it is up to you. Your soul isn't physical, and it's seperate from your body; your soul is immortal while your body is mortal. But more than that, I don't know.
