Oh, thank you so much! Nine AM? My father didn't want to leave before eleven...But, it's a children's book signing at five. I'm sure a lot of people will start showing up around three, when school lets out. (please please let them start showing up when school lets out)

I just found out that i'm going to a big party at one of the local Barnes and Nobles for the release of TE! ;D I'm so excited.... IT'S TOMORROW!!!!!

I checked the web site for the event here in Milwaukee. It's now sold out! The theater where it will be held holds over 900 people. I can't imagine how long he'll be signing books that night.

Ah yes. went to the Frisco event last night. I was in group two. I showed up at 7 30 and I am getting a little sick becuase I was standing out in the cold for an hour and a half (and being from humid and muiggy new orleans, i have not unpacked my winter clothes and did not bring them with me). Anyway, so the Barnes and Nobs peeps made a big deal about how i couldn't have any book other than the end. When I met Mr. Handler I told him I drove the 8 hours to see him and i wanted him to sign the basic eight. He said "Gimme the Basic Eight, I'll sign it" I almost cried becuase I had left the basic eight in the car. But i told him that I really enjoyed his adult books and he said that was very sweet of me to say. Then I said I will hopefully see him at one of his own book signings and he said he would like that.
He is so sweet. And as much as i want to marry him, he was wearing his wedding ring and I was so happy to see a sweet guy with his wedding ring that i just wished i will marry a guy that awesome!
Anyway, I got tons of pictures. I met a worker earlyu in the day who said I could have gotten a t-shirt, but I decided a picture was good enough for me. I am going to make an awesome collage to put in my office once I am a TA!
I hope everybody had a wonderful time and I hope everybody will have a wonderful time. And let me know if you find out Handler is on tour! I have friends in San Fran (well Berkeley) and I would love to visit them and see DH.
And i will not go into detail about the idiots that i had to encounter, but mostly it was an awesome time and i am so glad i went!

I guess I am beaten travel wise. We drove about six hours to get to Frisco from the Northern-most part of Oklahoma. I got confused about the whole ticket issue so I ended up getting one when I arrived at 3 PM on Friday..group thirteen. The performance was marvelous. Absolutely wonderful. I loved how he compared the Bible to ASOUE.

Afterwards, I continuously returned to the mall hour after hour (parents had no patience to stay for long) until finally group thirteen was called around midnight. I finally got to talk to him around 2:30 AM. I had thought about having The Basic Eight signed, but they were so specific about that and stuff.

I thought most young mothers would give up and take their children home by midnight...but apparently their will was just as strong as mine. By 1:30 you could see half a dozen children fast asleep on the B&N carpeted floors in line. These elementary-aged kids ahead of me had nothing to say to him because they were so exhausted as their mothers eagerly took pictures or their fathers stood around irritably. (My parents had been that exact way there too. It must be universal.)

DH didn't even get finished until 3:17 AM. Even at 2, he was full of energy, surprisingly still nice and charming and yelling things that could be heard across the store. You could see at least several empty cappucino cups surrounding him. He condemned me for reading most (haven't read TUA and TBL) of his books (I was surprised that so many people had just bought ASOUE 13 there...I rushed to buy it the day it came out.) in that silly LS kind of way and how morally corrupting it was. I'm surprised that he could stay that way for so long even with caffeine.

I'd love to see him on tour again, though it's not very likely. It definitely made my year.

It was soo much FUN!! i went with Hannah P. (a friend) we only had to drive 2 hours, and we got there about 1 and a half hours before it started, and we we're first in line!

(this was her ticket, they took mine when i got my book signed)
We waited around until 6:30 when they open the doors. But as we were waiting we saw a yellow taxi van cab pull up and STEPHIN MERRITT got out.. i started to make that one noise thingy i make some time the hipper excited unbelievable eehhahhhooohoooeoeeeogo eeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeee something like that, Merritt glanced at my once i think, i hope i wasn't to scary to him..
We got inside and some people gave us this flayer thingy:

we were going to get first row sets but the first two rows were "reserved" for dumb little VIP brats.. so we got third row, i got the isle seat.






The show starts and Mr. Handler and Mr. Merritt come out on stage looking around for Lemony, but of course they don't find him so Handler goes into his one routine and pretends to call Snicket on a fake phone form the stage.




He walks around the audiences pretending to call Snicket, and squeezes through a row of seats while Merritt plays a song.





Handler walks around some more and sat on some lady, when he past me... i guess because I'm just so not standing out or anything with my hair and all. he stopped by me and looked down and gave me one of those "wow your scary" smiles. then he went back up and they played another song.







Then he went back down to the crowd and stole a book form a little girl across from me.



and talked a bit, then got some volunteers from the VIP seatings in the front row.



and read a bit from the book while the children made sound effects and crap.



then he went back down to the peoples and gave the book back and was saying something about the hairiness of something or other.. but as he said hairy he touched my hair!!



he like felt my front spike and moved it around or something.. it was SO AWESOME!!!!! he TOUCHED ME! hehehthehehahhe XDXDXDXD yea and that just made my day, or well really my YEAR !!!
yea.. then he said some stuff and then it was over..



So then everyone went to the gym place to wait for there line number to be called.. We were number 6. We sat around for awhile and the Mr. Merritt showed up and stared signing some autographs,



we went down and i got one from him on my megnticfeilds CD



and he said he liked my shirt. i was wearing a black shirt with white letters that said i heart Olaf, and on the back i painted a pic of Count Olaf.



so we waited a long time but it was still fun, and they had free popcorn and stuff and they had someone dressed up as madam Lulu and telling fortunes with old maid cards.



After awhile the crowed died down and we went down to look around and the madam Lulu lady said she wanted to do my fortune so i was like sure why not.



she said like i was just like you when i was young and stuff, and she said are you familiar with Johnny rotten (heck yes! the sex pistols ROCK) and she said that she admired my courage and hopes i don't change or something like that. but it was weird/cool i forget more what she said but then she put 3 cards down and said pick one to see what you'll be when you grow up, i flipped one over and it was a rock star, nice.. who would of thought!? and then next to see who I'll marry, and i got the ice cream man!!! then what kind of kids I'll have or something and it was some artist card and shes like your going to die in prison, she said not to do graffiti and stick to t-shirts > who told her!!! yea but that was it with her.



(look at the faces on these kids?!?!? am i really that scary? heheh XDXD i love making a scene!!)

Then there was this really cool juggler guy who juggled bowling pins and sharp knives and some other stuff,





We hung out and talked to him for a while, he was cool. I also got his autograph after he was done.






he was neat. and me and the other Hannah screamed/cheered form the top of the bleacher/seat thingys after each of his little routines, and he would point up to us and bow and stuff.



Now it was finally our turn well mine anyway i got the very last ticket they were selling for the book signing, so we waited in line then Hannah had to go sit some where and i had to wait by my self and during the wait these two little kids kept quizzing me about all these things in the books i got most of them right, but they got me on what rule number did hector brake in TVV but it wasn't fair cause she was reading the book right there on the spot..



so i make it up to Mr. Handler everything was going so fast i barely remember anything he said, he said something about not telling people my name (i didn't have my book signed to anyone) and he something like and you wouldn't want to stand out now would you. He signed my Bad Beginning rare edition.. it was the first book i read from him, and it was really the first book i ever read all the way through, witch made me love reading, i wanted to thank him for that and stuff but i don't know i was just over powered by seeing him up close and him talking to me!! yea then he said its nice to meet you and i said you too, and left.............................
Then we went out the doors but on the way i stole there little sign thingy that was on the door and we ran to the car..



omg but it was soooo fun and awesome and made me happpy!!!

His Vancouver stop was on Tuesday. It was pretty much the same show as what Gigi (and other people) described earlier, so I'm not going to re-describe it in much detail.

So, we arrived at the venue, John Oliver highschool, about fort minutes early, and waited outside in the lineup; we were about the middle. I got to chatting with the lady behind me, who, it turned out, was a radio broadcaster who had interviewed Stephin Merritt earlier that day ("The first thing he said to me was 'I hate touring and I hate kids.'"). I nearly died of jealousy. I'm working on getting a copy or transcript of the interview.
Eventually they let us into the auditorium. After an introduction, Stephin and Daniel came out on stage and began looking for Lemony. Stephin was so funny, because it was obvious that he resented having to act. He used the same basic show as when I saw him in Seattle last September. With the alligator attack, the untrained ballerina dance, etc.
(In no particular order:) He "telephoned" Lemony Snicket while walking through occupied aisles, and threw in some Canadian jokes. He and Stephin played "Smile," "This Abyss," [url=http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/absinthe_moon/good9.jpg"Shipwrecked"[/url] and, of course, "Scream and Run Away." However, just before "Scream..." Daniel insulted Stephin (jokingly, of course) and Stephin slunk off the stage and didn't return. He walked by me several times, but he didn't touch my hair or sit on me like he did to you guys (oh, jealousy). He had his two moral rules (1. Never, for any reason whatsoever, raise your hand, 2. If you see Count Olaf, scream and run away). He stole someone's copy of The End and read an excerpt of it, enlisting two volunteers to make sound effects.

The main difference between the Canadian stop and all the other stops was that he and Stephin didn't sign anything afterwards. I thought this was majorly (!!!) unfair. The volunteers did have a Lemony Snicket stamp to stamp our books with, but that's not the same at all. The excuse was that Handler had hurt his hand, presumably from the twelve other stops on the tour (my mother: "What a whimp. He was playing the accordion just fine!"). I was very disappointed.

The one fortunate event that occured after this was that as we were leaving the auditorium, I saw Stephin and Daniel in their car preparing to drive away. So me, my mother and my eleven-year-old cousin stood and waved and shrieked (at least I did) for their attention. Stephin was uncomfortable by the obvious fangirling, and tried to ignore us; he looked even more uncomfortable after I shouted "Stephin, I love you!" Handler was nice about it and waved back, pawing at the back window as the car drove away. It was nice to see them, but really, not the same as a signing. *sigh*

(I plan to write letters to Handler and Merritt, complaining.)

Bummer about not getting your book signed. The stamp is nowhere near the same thing. I guess you can console yourself with your memories of Donuts with Handler.
