I never thought of Ruth as a lesbian. Strong bond, yes. Lesbian, no.
Another thing about it, if I recall correctly, is that Ruth's home land was a pagan land, and she wanted to stay with Naomi, in a Christian land.
Also, both had husbands that were killed, she probably also wanted to be with someone who understood her loss.
As for the question of "Where did God come from?" Basically, he's an eternal being. He always did exist, and always will. This is a very hard concept for people to get their minds around (including myself... it's akin to wondering "What's it like to not exist?"). I know this answer is not really scientific (although, through this, he doesn't just pop up out of nothing, which is against the laws of science). In just about any religion, though, there must be an element of faith, of believing without proof... this is one of the instances where that comes into play.

I know... Many people have a hard time accepting "Forever", because they are used to everything having a beginning... they don't like to think about God existing forever, living in Heaven forever, or going to Hell forever... I wander if there is a 667 in Heaven... Tragedy, you'd better believe in God (So you can go to Heaven)... ;D

Ok this isent gonna be one of my nomral religion posts. I think if they take it out, then the thiests and non-chrisitans will win and get chosen, but if they dont take it out then the chrisitans win, thats why i think they should jsut keep it in, and if you dont wanna say it, then you dont have to, but if you are a good, god loving, non silly Chrisitan, you can say it, i should bring one of my super religious friends on here, she would set all of you straight, what she says, is just toatly true, and its so moving, you would all believe, i bet ya a thousand bucks, she will make your head spin! ;D

She is a very good christian friend, that will accomplish more in her life then a bunch of computer nerds such as yourselfs, she will go to heaven, and live a very lovely life, while you guys drown in your own sanity, and not get the support and help of our lord, even though he loves all, he probably doesent like you guys as much! so stop being so intolerbly descreted, and become better people! and the whole "I dont believe in God, because i dont want my life run by somone" is a bunch of bull! he doesent run our lifes, what evidence do you have that proves it? nothing! and if you ask me what evidence i have the god is real, I`ll just say, "The Bible"

Googly Moogly...it's all myths people...all of it...You (hopefully) already know Christmas trees and Easter eggs were originally Pagan, and you probably know the traditional mid-winter and spring timing of the two holidays were Pagan too....
Maybe you'll do your homework and find out the core of Christianity -- the worship of a dying Godman who is resurrected, ascends into heaven and brings salvation to mankind -- was also the core of a number of ancient Pagan religions that began in the Near East two thousand years before Jesus.
Christian theology borrowed more than the archaic myth of the dying-resurrected Godman. Initiation by baptism, communion with the God through a holy meal that represented the flesh of the dead God, the Holy Spirit, monotheism, and immortality of the soul were all core beliefs of many ancient faiths. They were simply part of ancient Mediterranean culture.
Christianity also borrowed elements of Jesus' mythology: the virgin birth, the miracles (including turning water into wine, walking on water, and especially healing the sick) were all common elements of pre-Christian Pagan religions. Mithras had 'em. So did Dionysus, Attis, Osiris, and Orpheus. And more. And they had them centuries before Christianity was a twinkle in Saint Paul's eye.

Sayeth the man who debates with the simple phrase "because the Bible says it's so" Hey, here's a question: In the Qur'an (I'm sure you've heard of it...87 : 19 to be percise...), there appears the mention of "The Book of Abraham". This "Book of Abraham" does not appear at all within the 66 Books of the Protestant Bible nor within the 73 Books of the Catholic Bible, in circulation today. Why is that? It just makes my head hurt when I have religion discussions with people who sum their difference of opinion with "bunch of crap". I ache in my ears knowing most of you have never read the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Apocrypha, or even alternate views into your own damn belief system... And as far as PPW....when she learns to spell "Looser" correctly, I may take her more seriously. |
