This is an editorial
and also a poem
except that I don't know
how to write any of those.
But I'm somehow supposed to do that
and I don't have time for both.
But whatever, Sophie says
the editorial is always wrong anyway,
so it doesn't matter
if it's wrong this time.
So I guess I should just say
this is the 667er.
People wrote stuff.
Just go and read it, and you will see.
10. Comet: you've definitely said some stuff this month. Go you!

I’ve never done the rant before, so this month I’m going to make a half-hearted attempt at structuring this article into three sections: one society-related topic, one personal-related topic and one 667 related-topic.
In society, I’m going to rant about Waitrose, which is a snobby little up market supermarket, beloved by the middle classes. Okay, I am pretty middle class myself- my family has gardeners, three cars and an acre of land attached to the house, but honestly I would still rather shop at Aldi than Waitrose. Perhaps it’s not so much the shop itself as the kind of breed of people who shop there that annoy me. Nope, who am I kidding? What kind of shop puts their labels in latin, considers Cypriot light halloumi an ‘essential’ item, and sells toilet paper enriched with cashmere extracts?
Currently I’m having a stressful time with the ‘lab safety’ part of my chemistry final paper. Apparently its essential to have a risk assessment in the report. What happens if you spill dichloromethane on your hands? Idk? Wash it off? In writing the report it’s simple enough, if annoying, to have to detail the risks of every single chemical (let me know if you know any risks associated with distilled water, peeps- drowning perhaps?), but the worst is the over exaggerated health and safety that has to be followed for every experiment. I have very long hair so, sure, I tie that up, and I wear gloves when I handle one particularly nasty chemical, but I haven’t worn a lab coat or goggles during the project, and most of the time I just prefer to hold my breath rather than use a fume cupboard when using solvents.
On 667, it’s the VFD door. At least right now- normally I have really enjoy solving (or trying) to solve the puzzles. But honestly, how difficult is it to, y’know, actually include an answer when you write a puzzle? Idiot.
667er: How did you learn that much English before you joined 667?
Tryina: I went to an international school filled to the brim with rich kids. Long story short, it was a very bad decision which I regretted very much
667er: You were very young when you first joined 667. What do you think when you look at your first posts? How do you think you have changed since then, and what has stayed the same?
Tryina: I was really, really whiny back then! I couldn't believe the various shenanigans I got into on my first year in this forum. Looking back at all of it, I actually thought the Tryina-Lucas thing was actually funny
667er: You will be 16 in November. Do you have any plans for that? Is that even a big thing in Indonesia? Will you be allowed to do any things that you haven't been allowed to do before?
Tryina: My only plans for my birthday this year will be an attempt to sleep all day before exams come knocking and another red velvet cake for me. Birthdays are considered as a special occasion, through for teens and older people's birthdays are normally celebrated here by throwing eggs, flour and water (through oil or Coca-Cola is optional.) I wish I won't get egged on this year. I wish I could start learning how to drive next year. I still have to wait two more years before I reach the age of majority
667er: When do people finish school in Indonesia? Do you have any idea what you want to do after that?
Tryina: Most finish their schooling after high school or university. I myself will be going to Singapore and/or America to study art in university and start a career as an illustrator after I graduate.
667er: You say you are very interested in history. Have you just always been interested in that, or how did that start? Do you have any particular favourite topic?
Tryina: I remember my parents fostering my love of history in me accidentally when they bought me many comics about famous people. From that, I became more interested, and this is where I ended up. My particular favorite topics are Indonesia's colonial history, and American history in general.
667er: If you had one day where you can just do whatever you want (and can use unlimited money for that), what would you do?
Tryina: Buy a lot of Campbell's soup, a Wacom Cintiq tablet, and a lot of instant noodles. Oh, and sushi. You get the point: I LOVE eating.
667er: (Yes, I looked at Linda's Interview with Bee to get ideas for questions.) Your actual username is 1815emiryward. Where is that from and why did you choose that name? Why did you change it before you even made any posts?
Tryina: It was a name from one of my old characters, and 1815 was the year her story was set in. I chose that name because it was easy to remember. I changed it to Tryina because everyone I saw in 667 had cool names and I had to jump in.
667er: We all know that you like reading (like most 667ers) and drawing. What else do you do in your free time?
Tryina: As I mentioned previously in questions #3 and #6, I like sleeping and eating. These are the reasons why I look like an inflated gym ball.
667er: Do you listen to music a lot? What is your favourite type of music?
Tryina: I listen to a lot of music. My tastes are really flexible, but I do listen to a lot more K-Pop, Western and Indonesian pop songs, and classical music.
667er: Is there anything else that you always wanted to tell 667? Or anything that just comes into your mind right now?
Tryina: Y'all are, like, my only friends right now. Thank you, folks.
History of 667
A column by
Welcome back to History of 667. Today I'll be your host, since Linda had some problems involving a laptop, a bell, an angry landlord and a turtle.
Today we're going to talk about something fun: other's people little dirty secrets! Okay not entirely like that, but I've been diving into a lot of old threads and found some fun, teenage/younger versions of everyone and especially some people who are still around, and there's some fun stuff I'd like to share with you.
Like for instance, there was this time when Dante (known as FFWF back then) left the forum and swans (whoever she is) resigned as G-mod and everyone feared it was the end of the world. As you well know, Dante didn't leave for good and it wasn't the end of the world, nor of 667, but it's a funny thread feat. our loved BSam who seemed to have another account back then? And also seems like he made a comment out of place because there was a lot of drama about it. I recommend you to read this, it's weird and fun to see all the serious people we know today when they were teenagers. Is like a forum full of bandits and pepperminces.
And there's this time when our dear, sweet, innocent Linda used her G-mod powers to hack All Due Respect, one of the admins back then!!! Can you believe it?! Me neither!!! And see how Pandora didn't do anything to protect her! Horrible. How could you, Linda?!
Also, one day, long time ago, Hermes was a newbie who alleged to don't be qualified to take part in discussions because he didn't read TUA. Unbelievable. Thanks God he didn't hold to that and started right away to be the Snicket-expert we all know well.
I found out that Willis was involved in some shady incident. Seems like he hacked swans account and changed the background, banner and some boards. He also banned a lot of back-then-well-known users (mainly mods and admins) were banned, including 667 creator, Tragedy. According to an old edition of The 667er, our dear, sweet Pandora was involved as well. This resulted in Willis being banned permanently (though it seems like it wasn't too permanent?) and Pandora being demoted (not for long?). Shame on you Willis, Nicole! (I guess?)
BONUS TRACK
During my investigation of troublemakers, I came across this post. I read it quickly and confused Karma with Carma, an actual user I saw lately, and started wondering what she did to be taken away. Then I started digging deep on it and found out Karma is not a person but a punctuation system that forums used to have (mine had it too). I also found out that recently Charlie admitted he misses it, so in my honest opinion we should bring it back just to make our dear Charlie boy happy again.
That's all for today, folks. Interested in seeing a specific topic covered? Don't you dare to send me a PM because I will not do this column again. Instead, send a PM to Linda Rhaldeen and she will do her best to cover it in a future issue (if she survives to that turtle).
(There is no new banner for 667 abc. Lets all pretend there is.)
=Imaginary Banner=
C is for Charlie . When Anka assigns me to investigate and report on him, I am more than a little intimidated by the prestige. This guy is one of the original members of #TeamAustraliansNeverSleep, a new medical student, and generally very cheerful. Like really cheerful. I plan to meet with him at one of the city's iconic Subway outlets. Melbourne bustles outside the building as I wait. My subject turns up fashionably late and very excited for Netflix’s ASoUE.
Obviously I can't cover all aspects of his life in this micro-article, partly because I don't want to reveal my stalking tendencies. Speaking of stalking, that's another thing this gawky Melbournian excels at, along with getting me into Derek Landy's work, and talking kpop. And, I venture, wasn’t it his excellence in that last area that led niche forum magazine mogul Mister M to give him a gig involving lots of embedded youtube vidoes and spoiler tags? Not quite; I am informed that Charles Snicket himself (or Charlie or Erica Reyes or whatever he calls himself) had a turn as the editor of this very publication before M’s reign.
That’s all the time we have today with this awesome 667er. By now my subject is politely eager to get back to being Definitely Doomed, doing a questionable job of pointing out when the powerful make spelling errors, and hating on musical theatre.
Linda does kpop
Hey everybody, we were supposed to switch our articles this month so I get to do kpop, despite knowing very little about it other than that the most-watched YouTube video of all time is kpop:
Except normally when I think of kpop I think of skinny androgynous-looking young boys, and Psy isn't any of those. So here is a video I found by typing "androgynous-looking Korean boys" into YouTube:
Don't worry I didn't forget about the girls in kpop. They tend to dye their hair fun colors, so I found a video that showcased some of those, with captions in Spanish for some reason:
So other than Psy everyone in kpop looks like they're 12, but apparently most of the stars are in their 20s? The oldest one in this video is 34 (for comparison, Psy was 35 in Gangnam Style):
Also, I thought to be in kpop you had to be Korean, but apparently there are some famous kpop stars who are not?:
I have no idea actually if this video is being serious or sarcastic but two of the group members are gay, which they spell gai for some reason. Is this a thing in kpop? Again, no idea. I like their song though:
This video needs to be more popular:
So, now I still know very little about kpop, but one thing I like about them is the aesthetic of it all. Maybe this is just me projecting because I don't speak Korean, but the visuals - hair, makeup, dance moves - seem to be more important than the actual songs and words. This video is an extreme example:
Wait! I was just about done when I found this. Some white American girl wants to tell us all how 2 kpop because apparently she's an expert (and yes, I realize the irony here considering I am also white and American):
THE MONTH
!
-The VFDoor is still ongoing, with Pandora in the lead. However, the current puzzle, deviced by Tragedy himself, seems to have everyone stumped.
-Two more actors were cast for the Netflix series - we now know the names and faces of Lemony and Uncle Monty!
-A couple of important threads were deleted, although the situation was soon taken care of. As a result, everyone in the Hall of Records have essentially received a full pardon.
-New threads of discussion have been started in BBooks, from the hilariously awkwardly titled to the overly technical; all of them, however, worth taking an interest in as long as you're into Snicket.
-Over in MMisc, the discussion is alive and kickin' as always. At the moment, 667'ers are fitting each other into Memes, Pepper and Mona are sharing their lines of clothing, and Dante and Charlie are sharing the spotlight when it comes to spelling badily.
(Netflix logo copright of netflix or something)
+Last time in NETFLIX NEWS... there was no article, actually; but not much happened until this month, so we're going to continue where we left off in the penultimate 667er issue.
The month started off with a source telling us that the shoot for ASoUE would take place from April 4th to August 12th. The news of a 16 week shooting schedule made some of us feel assured that there's going to be 13-episode season. Alas, AVClub reported an 8-episode season, although with no source to back it up. Our safest bet is to just wait for Netflix's official announcement, I think.
An instagram picture taken by Neil Patrick Harris getting a negative mold of his head, with a reference to ASoUE in the caption, got everyone excited, as this is basically the first (and only) behind-the-scenes photo we have. This also means we can expect some changes to NPH's face in his role as Count Olaf.
In the casting department, two roles were announced: K. Todd Freeman as Mr. Poe, and Patrick Warburton (aka Kronk from Emperor's New Groove, or Joe Swanson in Family Guy) as Lemony Snicket. Eyebrows were raised at the latter announcement, but mostly people seem to be cautiously optimistic.
Finally, some people received their first package from Daniel Handler’s literary postal club, and it included each a snippet of what looks to be the pilot script for the Netflix ASoUE adaptation!
s was the first to post his. Here's a transcript:
Mrs. Poe sits down opposite her husband and pulls out a NEWSPAPER.
