And they serve drinks and snacks on cruise ships, so they'd probably hand out such napkins with them.

At first, I thought it was the water tower.. but then I looked closer and I think it's the flock of birds.

I was wondering that as well. I thought it was the birds...?crows? on the right approaching, though there were crows throughout the book.

I think it's eagles. The Quagmires couldn't have been to far off at that point.

Sure they could've been far off, they were going to reach the hotel by thursday and it was 3 oclock Wednesday. Plus they were encumbered with eagles and the Carmelita.

I don't think the ship pictured on the napkin is the Prospero. According to the Prospero diagram in LSUA, the ship has a main bridge with a railing in the stern, and a figurehead that resembles Shakespeare. The ship on the napkin has neither of these, plus the entire ship has a different profile.

Well Dear Dairy, Handler contradicts himself. In TUA, it shows a modern boat for the Prospero, but in TRR, it shows a boat similar to the one on the napkin.

Oh, why am I not surprised? The timeline is so contradictory, of course this would be too!
By the way, I love your Very Fishy Dwarves pic, jman. Very funny!
Celebrate my 400th post! (Actually, this one is 401.)

I just realized something! Since TGG took place under water, and TPP took place on land, Book the 13th may take place in the sky, meaning that the eagles (birds or whatever) are the clue. And besides that, in TPP Kit Snicket was talking about her dealing with what was happening under water, the Quagmires handling the skies, and the Baudelaires combating the problems on land, makes sense right?

Actually, the U.A. is self-contradictory on the Prospero - in the article about it leaving early in The Daily Punctilio (beginning on page 93), then the photographs are all of modern boats, but the blueprint of the boat on page 111 shows the boat as it appeared in TRR, Shakespeare figurehead and all. And it could just be a generic representation of a ship, rather than a 100% accurate diagram solely for the napkins. Whatever the truth is, I think that a ship is very much implied. The appearance of the editor letters always has something to do with the next book.

"U.A." here refers to the Unauthorized Autobiography of Lemony Snicket, a highly confusing book that nonetheless contains many important secrets and mysteries.

I'd say its the birds. The napkin is probably a clue aswell

I'm going with the birds being the illustration clue, and the napkin being one of the most difficult to construe clues of all time..
