Dante, it's funny that you mention the rumor that Ellington Feint is actually Beatrice because I started thinking that while reading ATWQ. I thought that maybe Ellington was a false name but who knows. Although it might be too far fetched, however in the world of Snicket almost anything is possible.

Yeah, I agree with some of the others. I'd say neither, he's just another mean-spirited adult to yet again make the Baudelaire's lives miserable.

I'm so excited for this!!! I've always loved the movie, but was always disappointed that they left so much out and they didn't continue with any other of the books/storylines. So I'm hoping this will be great.

Hmmm I actually like the idea of saying UE. I've never thought of that before.

From what collete said, the idea that it could be Count Olaf's mother is an interesting theory. I know the person was female and wasn't she also described as having one eyebrow? I thought that was mentioned??... Which would make more sense for it being a person directly related to Olaf. So his mother? ...... Or perhaps a sister?

Jacques not dead? Hmm, I never thought of that before. I also believed it was made very clear that he was.....

Hello everyone. I really want to become a blogger, but I'm having a little problem with the issue that on certain blog sites, you have to actually pay for it. Does anyone know any blog sites where you can start a blog and not have to pay AT ALL? Literally completely free?
I have tried researching, and I have come across two; wordpress.org and blogger.com. BUT, when I looked through wordpress I found out that apparently you do have to pay a little for it. Then I checked blogger and so far it's advertised as actually being completely free. But it's still hard to decipher whether that's true or not, and they are just saying that to get people to join, and that there will turn out to be some kind of "catch".
So does anyone know if blogger.com is TRULY free? Or are there other options anyone knows about?

"perhaps a book about the backstories of all thirteen guardians, one per chapter?" Oh, I would so buy that book! I really can't think of any character as being "useless". As others on here have said, every character is in some way connected to the Baudelaire's, in more interesting ways than one. I would like to read more backstory on the Quagmire's, in particular Quigley. To me it would be very interesting to know about his actual journey, from the time his house went up in flames to when he finally meets the Baudelaire's. And I would like to know what really happened when he lost connect with the trio in the stricken stream. I would actually like to know more about the Denouement's as well.

So I just found out the second book will be "When did you see her last?" (that is the real book title right?) But does anyone know what the third and fourth books will be called? Or will there probably be no info until after the second book comes out?

This is simply just for fun, and just something I randomly came up with. Let's say we (as in fellow 667 DA users) were given the chance to pick any one of the 13 books to make it into a short film, to both write the screenplay and direct; which one would you choose and why? For me I would choose to do TMM. And the main reason why is because a big part of that book's themes has to do with eyes, vision and hypnosis; and like Klaus I too have to where glasses. I am virtually blind without them, so the eye thing is a big thing for me. That and the challenge of creating a character who is entirely built around constant smoke that covers their face would seem like an interesting yet fun challenge.
What does anyone else think?

Hmm, that's very interesting Dante. I actually like the idea that some of them were at the hotel. It makes me want to re-read TPP at look out for unknown characters working there.lol

I too have also speculated that the taxi driver is Lemony himself. Not too sure about the woman in the trunk though. Who exactly IS the swimming woman suppose to be?

But isn't that kind of the point? After all, the series takes place in a very timeless era; where everything is mixed up in a very alternate universe. So it makes sense that everything would be "historically inaccurate" since everything about the world of Snicket is one big hodgepodge of anachronisms.

I know people have been harsh on the film, which is understandable. I was quite disappointed with it the first time I saw it too, as it didn't really follow the books that closely. IMHO. But for what it is, even as a stand-alone type of film (which I think of it as) it was pretty good. I actually own the film. But one thing, (and I don't know if this has already been discussed) I really loved and thought I should mention are the costume designs for this film. I'm pretty big on paying attention to wardrobe detail in film, and I'm a fan of movie costumes in general. And I personally loved the designs in this film. I love Colleen Atwood's style, and I've been a fan of her work for quite some time. She was even nominated for an Academy Award (Oscar) for this film for Best Costume Design! I especially loved Count Olaf's green/black overcoat and fur collar that he wears with the sunglasses when he brings his troupe home.
What did everyone else think of Ms. Atwood's creations?
