I tend to be on the "good" side of the schism, so no I'm not. And I don't intend to impersonate him either.

I would actually have to go with two, TPP and TE. TPP, because of the idea that some of the "good" characters might have died in the hotel. And of course TE, just because as other people on here have said, it was really hard to say goodbye to Violet, Klaus and Sunny after being a part of their lives for so long.

Thanks Lady Grantham, but never mind I just found out literally right this second! ;D It's called The Toronto Theatre District. Neat! And Massey Hall is in fact a part of it.

I'm from the States and our highest level of commercial theatre is Broadway Theatre in New York. I believe the British equivalent to that would be West End Theatre in London. What is the Canadian equivalent? (If there is one?)

First I just wanted to say that I have always loved reading the "To My Kind Editor" segments at the end of each book in ASOUE. Of course there was never one for "The Bad Beginning," just for the ones that came after it. (at least, I don't think he wrote one for TBB)... In any case, I decided to make one up, an editor's note that Lemony Snicket might have written to his editor, introducing the editor to the series and telling hir what it is about and why he would want to bring the story of the Baudelaire's to the public. So here it goes:
To My Kind - soon to be - Editor,
This is truly the only way I can communicate with you, as I do not want my enemies to know where I am at. So throughout this series, I will give you each of my transcripts at certain hidden locations, so that they do not fall into the wrong hands. The transcripts are about the three Baudelaire children, or Baudelaire orphans; and their story is VERY important and must be told and brought forth to the general public. It is the only way justice can be served for these three unfortunate children, in A Series of Unfortunate Events. I am writing to you from the auditorium in the city, where Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire had last appeared, in a play no less; in order to find out exactly what transpired while the misfortunate lives of the Baudelaire's first began. This Monday, at about 4:30 pm, please go to the old run down and vacant automobile junk shop down-town, and look inside an old oak cabinet in the far left corner of the shop. In the third drawer down, you should find my description of the first miserable chapter in the lives of the three Baudelaire's, entitled THE BAD BEGINNING, as well as the ingredients on how to make puttanesca sauce, a book on nuptial law, and the playbill for the theater production of The Marvelous Marriage. I have also included a large piece of burnt wood, that belonged to a mansion, for Mr. Helquist, my soon to be illustrator, who should find it useful for his illustrations. Remember, you are my last hope that the tales of the Baudelaire orphans can finally be told to the general public.
With all due respect,
LEMONY SNICKET Lemony Snicket
So.. what do you all think?

Well you never know. I have had people respond to me on other message boards where I have forgotten about them for a few years, and then I check out my old status' for the heck of it and find out somebody has just asked me a question. And of course, I've answered.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree that maybe this person is just not very intelligent. Considering that this person actually has had opportunities to speak, especially in TWW but instead of answering Violet's question or responding to them, hir just grunts.

I don't know if this has already been discussed, but, now that I'm re-reading ASOUE, and I'm almost done with TWW, the Baudelaire's have once again met the person who "looks like neither a man nor a woman". Well what does everyone think the gender/sex of this person really is? Is zie male or female, or is zie a hermaphrodite? I was reading through different sites and Sunny at one time referred to hir as "Orlando"? And in the film zie is referred to as "Liza". It's kind of interesting. What does anyone else think? And also, why can this person apparently not be able to speak? Zie can really only make strange sounds and shrieks.
Oh and by the way, I have not yet read WCTBATH. Hopefully there are no spoilers into this person's past in that book if there are any?

That's.... kind of bizarre. No offense. It's just that we've only known Quigley for one book, and he was shown to be a very nice, kind person. What's there to "hate passionately" about him?

Okay, so the Snow Scouts were whisked away by Olaf and the Sinister Duo by the large net, then taken to the "Carmelita" and used as slave labor to row the submarine. Then they are never really heard of again. So what exactly happened to them? I can't remember them from TPP. Were some of them there, at the hotel that is? Did most of them escape when Fernald and Fiona took over the submarine? Does anyone have any theories?
I apologize if this has already been discussed.

It's been a while since I've read TPP, but isn't it actually stated that Mrs. Bass is wearing the same blonde wig that Olivia wore? Or was that Kevin, (or Hugo? Can't remember which one) who wore a long blonde wig when disguised as a female laundry maid? Was that the same as Olivia's?

Oh dear, looks like you're right. I tried going on Amazon and then Audiobooks.com and it looks like they just have Handler doing them. Well that's too bad. It would have been fun and as Lemona Snicket said before, "complete". Maybe Tim Curry was very busy during those recording of the three and he couldn't do it because of scheduling conflicts. But he was able to do the rest of them. That's kind of what I thought of before. Even so, hopefully he read books 3, 4 and 5 on his own, just so that he knew what was going on. And catch up with the narration! lol.
Well, just for fun, what do any of you think Curry would have sounded like if he had narrated the three, and what voices can you imagine him using for Josephine, Captain Sham, Taxi driver (who drives the kids to Josephine's), Shirley, Georgina Orwell, "Foreman Flacutono", or Coach Genghis?
Yeah, Tim Curry truly brings the series to life with his narrations.

My library has all of the audiobooks of ASOUE, the only "problem" is that Tim Curry does not narrate books 3,4 and 5. At least he probably did but we just don't have those versions which is a shame as I would have loved to hear those audiobooks as well. Well, this might be a strange request but does anyone have actual audio samples of Tim Curry doing the voices of all the characters from those three books that we never hear from again, like Aunt Josephine, or even some of Olaf's characters like Captain Sham, Shirley and Coach Genghis? I would really like to hear them from Curry's point of view. If anybody has them, or knows of a site that has them would be much appreciated!
For books 3,4 and 5 they are narrated by Handler himself, and even though he does a fine job it's just not the same without Curry, and in some ways seems sort of... lacking. Thanks!

For the gays/lesbians: Sir and Charles (again for obvious reasons), Duchess R, Sally Sebald, one of the white-faced women, (think Patty and Selma, from the Simpsons) and Hal.
For the bisexuals: "uncle" Bruce, Fernald, Geraldine Julienne, and (yes I'm going to say it) Esme. For some reason she just strikes me as not just a "fashionista" but also a very sexually experienced woman. Who in the past, has had multiple affairs with men and women, and was good at seducing anyone she wanted and leaving them high and dry.
So yes, these are my gay/bisexual characters list.
